Turning to photography as a creative outlet during a valiant fight with breast cancer at age 34, [info]renaissance10 survived and set up a photo contest to help raise funds for the Lavender Trust, a nonprofit that provides information and support to younger women with breast cancer. In the first two years, the competition brought in over £65,000 (that's $107,260.73 U.S.!), with entries from 130 countries last year. Renaissance10 recently joined LiveJournal to meet other passionate photographers and find supportive friends.

The Synthi Group is back for the second installment of their ongoing Electronic Music Studio (EMS) instrument centered compilations. With the popularity of Vol. I, downloaded over 41,000 times, it was made clear that an interest exists for the unique sound of EMS machinery. Vol. II continues the DIY ethic of the first, encapsulating a diverse array of sounds from ultrasonic frequencies and spring reverb howls to rubbery logic sequences and colliding inverted ramp oscillators.
The members presenting their own manipulations and interpretations of the Synthi. Encompassing elements from vintage analog, ambient, glitch and experimental, both beginners and aficionados of electronic music alike will find interest in the varying styles presented here. Available through Clinical Archives, the Synthi Group: Vol. II must not be missed. Bleep.

Following on the success of the debut album, 'Aircode', Silence Drift returns with deep and tunefully beautiful 'Landscapes Through The Viewfinder', his second full-length album. Hypnotic and charmful journey to the mystery of ancient tropical rainforest, filled with nostalgic melancholy. A breathtaking masterpiece! 'Lanscapes' was written and recorded by Maxim partially over his trip to Cambodia and Thailand, during July-August, 2008. The jungle atmosphere was an important influence in these pieces, as they helped him to capture a tremendous beauty of nature. Additional piano, vocal and guitar recordings was made at his home studio in Moscow.

Artist: Joxfield ProjeX
Title: Phantastique
#ca343
Date: 2009-12-17
Keywords: progressive; psychedelic; experimental; jam; space-rock; electronic; rock
(320 kbps)

"Phantastique" is a virtual LP. The intension was to make a straight, plain and simple jam record based on some repetitive patterns, at least in Joxfield ProjeX terms of what is straight, plain and simple. Not to get too much stuck into the spacey jams the tunes are separated by some short experimental pieces. Look at these moments as opportunities to get some good, fresh air.
Even though it’s maybe not heard in the music, the main inspirational sources for these recordings are some albums by Acid Mothers Temple, especially Kawabata Makoto’s mixing style, but also some funky grooves from Miles Davis ‘On The Corner’ period.

Oax: Guitars, bass, voice- & percussion samples
